There are two types of admission to German universities as per program/subject:
- Restricted admission subject also called Numerus Clausus or NC
- Open admission subject also called as Non-Numerus Clausus or Non-NC
Restricted admission subject means there are fewer admission positions available than the applications received and they take only the top of the list that suits the programs best.
Open admission subjects mean there are enough seats available for all suitable applicants. Only those applicants are rejected who do not meet the admission criteria or formal education criteria.
